04.03.2026 | Statement on the House Republicans' Refusal to Fund TSA Officers Ahead of Easter Holiday; Top Republican to Americans: "You Better Break Your Back, Get Yet Another Job" to Pay for Rising Costs

Speaker Michael Johnson has recessed the House of Representatives until Monday April 6, 2026, without addressing a measure to fund the salaries of TSA Officers across the Nation as we head into the Easter weekend. The Democratic Party of Guam condemns this action. It is unconscionable that Members of Congress can go home and celebrate the Easter holiday with their families while TSA officers are required to work without pay at the very airports those Members of Congress use to go to their home districts or on vacation. That TSA officers are left wondering how they will be able to continue to put food on their tables while Members of Congress continue to receive their full pay checks throughout the partial government shutdown.

03.03.2026 | Statement on the U.S. Military Engagement in Iran: A Request for Prayers for Our Troops and Their Families

In recent days, the United States Military has been ordered by the President to bomb Iran, and he has announced that additional U.S. Forces will be sent to the area.  Guam has historic record-high voluntary enlistment rates and our people value service to our country. We fully appreciate that when our brothers, sisters, sons, and daughters enlist in the military, they know the dangers that they face. We are proud of their bravery and commitment, and we pray for the safe return of all our nation’s troops.

02.25.2026 | Statement on the President's State of the Union Address

As we watched the President’s State of the Union Address this afternoon, we were immediately reminded that everyone views life and what is happening around them from their own perspective.  That perspective is influenced and colored not just by the principles they hold dear and the ideas they value most, but also by their own experiences.  Very clearly, President Trump reported on the State of the Union from his perspective.

02.18.2026 | Statement on the Passing of Reverend Jesse L. Jackson

The Democratic Party of Guam joins a grieving nation in marking the passing of Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, a bridge-builder in divided times, and a voice that refused to let the promise of this country shrink to fit the comfortable few.

02.11.2026 | Democrats Applaud Governor Leon Guerrero on Her Final State of the Island: A Governing Record Built to Last

02.09.2026 | President Dismisses Super Bowl and Democratic Governors

More than 140 million viewers tuned into the Super Bowl half-time show – a groundbreaking performance by Puerto Rican American artist Bad Bunny that represented the essence of America: multi-lingual, multi-cultural, and multi-faceted. It was a groundbreaking performance that highlighted the Puerto Rican and Hispanic cultures through song and dance that no doubt touched the thousands of Guamanians who tuned in today. Many who call Guam home undoubtedly saw themselves represented on that field today during that performance.  You did not have to understand what was being sung to feel the essence of what it all represented.

02.07.2026 | Racial Bigotry is No Joking Matter

Earlier today, the President of our Nation shared an AI generated video depicting former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama as apes. It has been excused by the White House Press Secretary as “just a joke.” It has since been taken down, but the damage was done and the message was sent loud and clear - in the minds and hearts of some of our most powerful leaders, some of us are less than human, less than worthy despite their tremendous accomplishments and contributions to our Nation and the world. The Democratic Party of Guam calls on all leaders, on both sides of the aisle, to denounce this blatant bigotry and rededicate themselves to forming a more perfect Union.

01.06.2026 | Democratic Party of Guam Reflects on 5th Anniversary of January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol
